Peace Is a Tree That Blooms From the Basement
2024

Chelsea College of Art ‘Activation’ show installation
Shown in the Morgue (ALG07)

A bedsheet covered antique we surrender to the basement. We admit to ourselves that we should eventually confront it, that we should make use of it.
Instead, we let damp and dust dress - now it wears a veil of time left untouched. There are traces of personal resemblance between this image and that of parts of myself I have refused to confront. There is an instinctual human tendency to bury whatever it is that shadows us - to cloack it with an attempt at blissful ignorance. If we bare the hands that plant the seed to our own inner peace, then e must first rummage through its soil.

Found objects, wood, paper, coton, lichen, gold leaf, LED, watercolour pigment
